UCLA Health Student Assistant - BD2 / Cousins Center Study in Los Angeles, California

Description

Student Assistant to work in research studies examining the interrelationships between behavior and immunity. Incumbent will work independently and report to the Senior Project Coordinator and the Director of the Cousins Center for PNI.

This position will require ON-CAMPUS WORK. With this position, we are unable to grant remote employment.

The Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology, in the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, is seeking an enthusiastic self-starter to assist in interviewing subject participants by Phone. Incumbent will work under the supervision of Senior Project Coordinators and PI.

Under the direction of the project coordinator, a specific screening script will be implemented. The interviewer will be asked to read this script to conduct all interviews. During all interviews, the project coordinator monitors screening subject participants over the phone, following a specific script and prescribed guidelines provided by Project Coordinators. Calls will be conducted under the supervision of Project Coordinators. Procedures are established and clearly detailed; neither originality nor improvisation desired.

Under the direction of the project coordinator, assemble letters and envelopes for mass mailing to recruit subjects.

Under the direction of the project coordinator, assistance with miscellaneous research released task: data entry, preparing paperwork for participant visits, filing paperwork related to participant visits, backing up computer files following participant visits, organizing files, posting flyers, escorting participants from one location to another (e.g., from the Clinical and Translational Research Center to CCN for neuroimaging), administering standardized phone call follow-ups with participants using a brief established questionnaire, labeling materials for participant visits.Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good organization and work habits required.

  • Computer skills to perform data entry using a PC required. Computer literacy is a must.

  • Ability to shift priorities and adapt to change required.

  • Ability to work independently and to take direction required.

  • Skill in writing legible, concise and grammatically correct documentation in Standard English required.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively over the phone.

  • Must be a current UCLA Student.
