Los Alamos National Laboratory DARHT Asset Management Support Specialist (Production Control Specialist 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Integrated Weapons Experiments Division (J-DO) is seeking an energetic, customer-focused individual for the position of DARHT Materials Management and Warehousing Support Specialist. The position will serve as an integral part of the Division's asset management program.

The role of the DARHT Materials Management and Warehousing Support Specialist is to establish and maintain an accurate and complete database of spares, parts, and maintenance materials, tools, and supplies (e.g., "items"). The DARHT Materials Management and Warehousing Support Specialist is largely responsible for ensuring that Programmatic Operations have the right parts, at the right time, in the right quantities to support the execution of proactive processes. This will require gathering and tracking relevant data, analysis, reporting, scheduling, and collaboration with internal and external customers. This role will report to J-6 and support the J-DO asset management program design and implementation.

The selected candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to authorize the expenditure of materials management funds, manage the DARHT Complex facilities to maximize process efficiency and performance. They will serve as the Inventory Management liaison to Procurement, Accounting, and Engineering to manage item costs and configuration control.

  • Strong organizational skillset and attention to detail enabling the most efficient workplace possible.

  • Strong skills in initiative organizational and problem solving to lead to successfully completing goals.

  • Proven track record using continuous improvement tools like 5S, SMED, materials kitting, and space planning and utilization.

  • Significant experience performing materials management activities such as receiving and reverse receiving transactions, inventory cycle counting, material deliveries, and inventory pick and issuing.

  • Experience and proficiency in database integrity and administration with strong analytical and research skillset.

  • Ability to develop, implement, and ensure compliance to materials management procedures, policies, and processes.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to collaborate across functional areas and utilize an organizational network to achieve project goals.

  • Basic understanding of common tools and materials.

  • Ability to obtain or maintain a DOE Q clearance, which typically required U.S. citizenship.

Education/Experience : Position requires 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills as an IT Administrator, Engineer, or supply chain professional.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the following core skills; database software management, data management, liaising with programmers, applications/operational staff, IT project managers and other technical staff, providing user training, support and feedback, and archiving data.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of spare parts stocking and just-in-time supply chain practices.

  • Ability to understand quality expectations for incoming materials.

  • Active DOE Q-Clearance.

  • Certification in Database Administration, Inventory Management, or Supply Chain Management training.

Position commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
