Prime Air is seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Specialist. This role is part of our Regulatory Affairs team and responsible for leading and executing projects and initiatives related to regulatory framework and standards development.

Export Control License

This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate Prime Air’s Global strategy and engagements with internal and external stakeholders, e.g. aviation ministries, industry associations or industry working groups, to advance technical regulatory framework and standards setting work

• Partner with internal stakeholders, like Legal, Public Policy, Public Relations, as well engineering and operational teams, to drive as much consistency as possible for Prime Air’s positioning (e.g. through Whitepapers, Public Consultations, or Industry Letters, etc.)

• Act as Amazon Prime Air representative for government stakeholders and regulatory Bodies globally in relevant rulemaking and standards setting working groups

• Brief team on all relevant global regulatory guidance for design, certification and operation of drones as well as regulatory changes

• Develop action plans for changes on relevant policies established by governments and regulatory stakeholders and execute those plans through completion

Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor, or Master, degree from an accredited course of study, in political science, law or equivalent industry experience

• 3+ years of working directly with regulatory and senior government stakeholders like FAA, ICAO, RTCA, EU Commission, national aviation Ministries and/or national aviation authorities

• Familiarity with the aviation rulemaking and standards setting processes in both the United States and Europe

• Experience in drafting and representing industry position to inform government and regulatory stakeholders on future policy decisions

• Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening), and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience leading comprehensive strategies for navigating rulemaking and/or standards setting processes for an airline or aerospace manufacturer

• Experience with aviation trade associations, technical standards groups, and rulemaking processes

• Experience with aviation approval processes, drone regulations (FAA, EASA, CAA, etc.) and compliance requirements

• Experience in government/industry working groups

• Fluency in Spanish and Italian
