Job Description

As a member of OCI’s product organization, you will assist in defining and developing product and engineering initiatives in support of OCI’s most strategic customers. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of solution architecture, product or software engineering or related experience.

Cloud Engineering Infrastructure Development

Are you interested in building large-scale distributed cloud infrastructure that helps on decentralized data sources, edge devices? We are assembling a multi-regional software development team with the expertise and passion for solving challenging unique problems in distributed multi-tenant architecture. You will use your knowledge and creativity to design and build innovative new systems from the ground up. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives. You will be working with best in class end-to-end integrated compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

As a Principal Solutions Architect, you will be working closely with both our field organizations and software engineers from the various cloud service teams to build secure services that meet both customer needs and OCI’s strategic goals You should be familiar with all levels of the software, hardware, and network stack; while having a deep knowledge in a few. Intellectual curiosity and an excitement for solving complex problems of complex massive systems is a must. You should value simplicity and usability as well as security and work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment.

You are technically strong and get a lot done – you’ve built highly available, scalable, and redundant services. You understand that simple systems are easier to operate and fix. You can balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements. You’ve made life easier for other developers and have motivated your teammates to make both process and service improvements with your ability to automate. You understand operational excellence and lead a culture of being dedicated with your teammates.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline

  • 5+ years relevant development experience

  • Hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle)

  • An understanding of a diverse set of cloud customer’s applications and use cases.

  • Experience designing, implementing, testing and operating critical parts of tier-1 services, or on architectures that span multiple projects

  • Previous success mitigating risk and making nuanced trade-offs designing for security, concurrency, availability, performance, scalability and change

  • Recognized as a team leader and someone who can collaborate across teams

  • Design architectures that demonstrate deep technical depth in one area, or span many products, to enable high availability, scalability, market-leading features and flexibility to meet future business demands

  • Direct participation in hiring, bartender programs and/or mentorship across the organization

  • Lead preparation and presentation of design reviews
