The AWS Global Sustainability Customer Strategic Engagement (CSE) team builds scalable mechanisms to make relevant AWS environmental, social and governance (ESG) data accessible to customers, and looks around corners to anticipate future customer's ESG needs.

The role of Principal ESG Business Engagement Specialist will act as a strategic advisor to AWS senior leaders on sustainability data center transparency. You will also design and build necessary mechanisms that will enable the implementation of a secure and scalable AWS sustainability transparency strategy. There is room to create impact for our customer in this role, and we are looking for candidates with a proven track record of delivering results in ambiguous, complex areas which required leadership and cross-functional influence.

Key job responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with sustainability requirements of existing and new cloud public procurement policies and contract frameworks, working collaboratively with Public Policy, Sales, Legal and Infrastructure teams.

• Partner with EU Public Policy and Legal teams on advocacy efforts related with emerging mandatory and voluntary reporting that requires data center providers to share data with our customers.

• Create and execute initiatives cross-functional initiatives that look around corners for customers and meet their needs across environmental and social topics as they pertain to data center operations in Europe, and globally.

• Own the AWS Global Sustainability relationship with the AWS Analyst Relations and Public Relations teams, engaging in analyst and press briefings, commissioned studies and assessments on behalf of AWS Sustainability

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, environmental or related field

• 7+ years of program or project management experience

• 7+ years of defining and implementing complex initiatives that require influencing cross-functional team priorities and senior leadership decisions

• Experience in or related to data center sustainability topics

Preferred qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience working with sustainability-related regulations, legislation, public procurement policies and contract frameworks

• Proven ability to engage with senior leadership, suppliers and customers

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years in business advisory or program management, preferably in technology.

• 3+ years of experience in or related to sustainability

• Bachelors degree

• Experience in developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at an organizational level

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of GHG Protocol, environmental policy, corporate sustainability reporting and best practices

• Direct customer engagement experience

• Knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency topics

• Experience working in cloud computing from a business or technical perspective
