About the Role:

As GVP, Finished and Format Sales you will be responsible for driving revenue generation with responsibility for developing and delivering sales strategy for formats and non-scripted sales across the world (excluding USA) that ensure sustained focus and growth by market and platform, to achieve agreed revenue and sales targets for WBITVP.

You will lead and set the targets, devise the strategy to achieve these and manage the profitability of finished tape sales and format revenues.

You will also be responsible for managing the sales team and maximizing revenue and profitability through devising, driving and implementing sales strategy and ensuring overall delivery of sales target.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the EVP, you will set the revenue targets for the sales unit and individuals and set the strategy for achieving targets

  • Approve the cost targets and overall profit targets of the sales unit

  • Prepare the annual and LTP budgets and quarterly reforecasts

  • Work in close association with WBITD offices in Canada, Australia, LATAM and Asia to ensure that sales are being maximised

  • Work with Opcos to forecast and maximise Format revenues from slate commissions

  • Provide direction and leadership to the non-London sales team via communication strategy of content and goals to ensure that the teams achieve targets

  • Strong communication with a wider internal group of WB executives delivering increased sales and better reporting including; WBDTVD USA – proactively staying across US activity, and pushing for sales and WBITD Australia and Canada – more effective communications

  • Alongside EVP, maintain and manage strong relationships with internal and third-party producers, attending regular meetings to discuss the production slate

  • Proactively promote and sell the WBITVP catalogue across all genres for both formats and finished programming

  • Conduct sales trips in the region, attend markets as well as represent and promote Company ’ s new formats at broadcaster group pitch sessions e.g. ProsiebenSat1 European pitch

  • Proactively guide the negotiation of key deals in market, ensuring timely achievement of negotiation objectives and key success criteria to maximise returns and achieve commercial objectives

  • Develop and continually maintain expert knowledge of the industry and our product offerings to maximise all sales opportunities e.g. client sales history, programming, and business developments; platform developments; VOD developments; advertising market developments etc

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships externally with existing and new clients, as well as internally within the Group to ensure strong communication and information flow on forthcoming productions to maximise business opportunities

  • Managing the relationships with WBD (HBO and Discovery Legacy) acquisitions team, balancing the challenges of establishing new relationships with a complicated set of issues with WBD owned platforms

  • Act at all times as an excellent ambassador and professional role model for us and our product range with both internal and external audiences, ensuring full control of the sales and negotiation agendas in each market

  • Provide outstanding direction and leadership to the sales team via hands-on deal management and fortnightly individual meetings to ensure that the team achieves targets and provide solutions for specific problems. Team management responsibilities include motivating, developing, training, and recruiting direct reports

Your Experience

  • Extensive experience in the TV industry including senior management and strategic positions

  • Proven track record in successful and inspirational management of sales team

  • Proven track record of over delivering on financial targets

  • Ability to lead by example

  • Delivery of tangible sales in television formats and finished programmes

  • Excellent business acumen and project management skills

  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • TV experience and knowledge of the industry essential

  • Very strong negotiation skills

  • Strong grasp of legal and financial concepts essential

  • Ability to effectively deal with clients at a very senior level

  • Technical knowledge regarding clearances, delivery formats etc

  • Foreign languages useful

  • Building and maintaining relationships

  • Solutions and results driven and strong customer focus

  • Flexibility to work globally across different time zones when required

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
