As a Commercial Finance Analyst, you'll play a vital role in our finance department, contributing to strategic decision-making and driving business growth. This role offers a unique chance to work closely with cross-functional teams and senior management to analyze financial data and provide valuable insights.

Duties and Responsibilities (Includes but are not limited to):

  • Support the growth of the business by partnering with senior stakeholders to develop plans, track performance, and help us course correct

  • Deepen our understanding of customers through financial analysis, distilling this into actionable insights and recommendations for senior stakeholders

  • Support group strategic planning activities by building long term forecasts for new products and initiatives, helping us to prioritise activity on our strategic roadmap

  • Help us make better decisions by critically analysing performance, facilitating honest appraisals of return on investment and optimising capital allocation

  • Build financial models and perform analysis to deepen understanding of the business' unit economics to support commercial decision making

  • Ensure that critical business issues are identified in a timely fashion and escalated to ensure that key management attention focussed appropriately

  • Partner with BI teams to ensure management documents and dashboards leverage relevant financial and other KPIs providing a reliable and holistic view of business performance

  • Provide analytical support to budget holders including performance analysis, planning templates and other tools to support commercial decision making

  • Support on strategic and commercial projects as necessary providing ad-hoc financial analysis and scenario modelling to key business stakeholders

  • Partner with the broader finance team to share knowledge, learnings, best practices, and foster an environment of continuous improvement

Key Requirements:

  • Exceptional financial modelling capabilities (possibly developed within a Transaction services or investment banking environment), consistently able to deliver high-quality, accurate and KPI-driven models to forecast and track business performance.

  • Highly resilient with an ability to manage workload and competing priorities.

  • Qualified accountant preferred, but not essential, (CIMA or ACA preferred) with an exceptional academic profile and demonstrable experience of modelling and forecasting. Experience of managing financial planning and reporting processes would be valuable, but is not essential.

  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to distil key messages and make recommendations from complex data.

  • Experience of partnering with BI teams and using large data sets to create insights and recommendations preferred.

  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders, communicating complex financial information and other KPIs simply and effectively.

  • Relevant industry experience from a customer and technology focussed business preferred, but not essential.

  • Broad exposure to the finance function with experience of analysing balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow.

  • Experience of working across multiple international markets and currencies.

  • Able to build and maintain productive cross-functional relationships.

  • Appreciation of business strategy and articulation of the key financial messages arising from it.

  • It is critical this candidate is comfortable working with ambiguity, with the ability to break down and simplify complex problems.

  • Analytical, high intellect and a strong attention to detail.

  • Strategically minded, with the ability to take the long-term view and anticipate future business trends and implications.

  • A good communicator, both verbally and in writing, who is comfortable presenting to groups of senior stakeholders and members of the investment community.

  • Ability to build relationships with, and influence, senior stakeholders through strong partnering skills

  • A strong team player, hands-on and with a low ego and a collaborative style.

  • Used to operating in a fast-paced environment with agility, pace, and energy.

  • Impeccable integrity and a strong work ethic.

  • High levels of energy with the ability to motivate and drive teams, engendering a culture of teamwork and fun in a very fast-moving environment. Flexible approach to both embrace and deliver the many ad-hoc parts of the role.
