We are searching for a strategic and forward-thinking Commodity Manager to join our Supply Chain team! As a Commodity Manager you will be issuing RFQ's/getting estimates, processing purchase requisitions into PO's, managing deliveries, and managing relationships (internally & externally) to fulfill Roush's material needs. You will manage suppliers and current cost reductions. You will also evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, launch, and delivery of their products and services. This position is located in Livonia, MI.
As a Commodity Manager I you will:
- Lead current production cost reduction and new program sourcing for the assigned commodities, including issuing and analyzing RFQs
- Process purchase orders and ensure that supplier is meeting delivery dates
- Assist in developing and executing sourcing strategies and plans to leverage Roush's global buy and optimize total supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, and launch)
- Lead, manage and execute data collection, validation, analysis, and negotiation activities for the assigned commodities
- Assist with ongoing supplier assessment and performance review meetings, monitor effectiveness of strategy, and make changes
- Participate in process improvements with the team to develop and implement best practices
- Monitor supply markets, trends, and forecasts
Minimum qualifications required:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related or technical area
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must be professional and possess integrity
- Ability to collect and analyze data
A successful candidate may also have:
- Relevant internship or co-op experience
- U.S. Citizen for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.
- Experience with computer hardware and software
- Experience in the automotive industry
- Experience with cost analysis
- Experience in negotiating and assessing suppliers
- Understanding of automotive industry quality standards
- Coordination, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Technical capability and manufacturing knowledge
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft
