Navistar, Inc. Chief Engineer Senior in Lisle, Illinois

Position Overview

Navistar is currently seeking a Chief Engineer Senior to join our team!

A candidate will be responsible for managing all Cummins Powertrain Integration Engineering activities between Navistar and Cummins including the liaison between cross functional groups within Navistar Inc. In this position, candidate will guide the team of engineers working on Heavy Duty, Medium Duty platforms and Sustaining platforms on the technical and program related activities. Activities include integration work for all CMI/CES Powertrains such as X15, B6.7 Octane, X10, B7.2 and Euro applications et al. Candidate will be also responsible for the TPM/ Timecard approval/ development of energetic environment with their team.

The Chief Engineer Senior will be reporting the status to Sr. Executive leadership team on regular monthly basis and will lead Powertrain technology and product management discussions within the Powertrain organization, providing technical guidance and supporting the program teams on achieving the program Quality Cost Delivery People. This position will report directly to the Director of ICE - Powertrain.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate overall integration of powertrain program technical activities within PD and TRATON.

  • Leads the discussion and meetings between cross brands from Navistar perspective.

  • Accountable for ensuring solid planning, Program Interdependency (good technical baseline and accurate estimates) during the program scope definition Coordinate the cross functional technology Road Maps for Cummins Powertrain and work with Product Planning Organization (Engine, AT, Axle, Transmission).

  • Technical project coordination with cross functional groups (purchasing, supplier quality, manufacturing, after sales, etc.).

  • Prepare program technical status reviews and other formal reviews to be presented to SLT

  • Review and assign issue resolutions to cross functional team.

  • Approve the Budget and VPCR between both companies as needed per the MMI of Vehicle Application

  • Candidate will be responsible for the TPM/ Timecard approval for Platform team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 12 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 6 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 10 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 6 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 6 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Good understanding of the Powertrain System – Engine , Aftertreatment and Control System et al.

  • Ability to manage cross functional team to ensure the Product integration with high quality and on Time.

  • Ability to plan budgets and obtain the resources necessary for successful project completion.

  • Delegating tasks to engineering teams.

  • Supervising every phase of the project from start to completion.

  • Providing Guidance and coaching to Engineers and Managers at the time of ambiguity.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
