Summary This position is assigned to the Lexington Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, Police Service Administration Section. The incumbent will serve as a Program Support Assistant under the supervision of the Administrative Officer. The Program Support Assistant (PSA) is responsible for administrative/clerical support for the service. This job opportunity announcement (JOA) will be used to fill one (1) full-time and permanent GS-0303-6 Program Support Assistant (OA) vacancy with the Police Service at the Lexington, KY Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). Duties include, but not limited to: Serves as the timekeeper for all staff assigned to the service; provides administrative, clerical and programmatic support to the Chief. Compiles and maintains data, performs analysis and prepares reports. Utilizes computer software systems for data management, word processing and communications. Receives, screens, prioritizes all incoming correspondence by directing them to the appropriate staff member and ensures deadlines and suspense dates are met. Develops and initiates written correspondence. Maintains office files and supplies. Collects, compiles and/or tracks data and statistical information in support of the service's OS&LE Police Program Inspection. Responds to non-technical requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates for routine matters requiring compliance, and other information as applicable. Use and Management of the Government Purchase Card Program. Follows policy and procedures for issuance of access control cards, enter required data into CCURE in order to issue cards to those requiring access into access-controlled areas. Provides administrative assistance as the access control assistant/operator for the division assigned. Creates time zones, door groups and function groups as equipment is added or needs change. Alters programming on doors, expansion inputs and expansion relays to ensure proper operation. Routes requests for additional access control measures through the proper channels to ensure physical security integrity. Serves as a Sponsor for Police Service in support of the HSPD-12 program. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/01/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
