Requisition Summary
PACCAR’s Zero Emissions department is focused on new technologies such as battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell electric, and advanced vehicle concepts that eliminate harmful emissions in the heavy and medium duty transportation industries. The PACCAR Zero Emissions Powertrain department is developing new electrified components to support applications in the global product offerings under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF and Leyland brands. This role will support the high voltage battery pack development and packaging for current and future battery systems. The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: structural, thermal, sealing, or pack development for zero emissions vehicles and be able to work in a collaborative environment across multiple business units.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Collaborate with a third party to develop designs for PACCAR battery packs including structural, thermal, and sealing, while ensuring the design and validation meets PACCAR standards.
Evaluate and assess various technologies to guide and enhance battery pack designs.
Work closely with PACCAR’s purchasing and quality teams to identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers.
Utilize a standardized phase gate product creation process to deliver high quality engineering designs.
Provide engineering analysis and design to support the expansion of EV applications into new market segments as customers adopt the technologies.
Demonstrate innovation through effective collaboration and personal initiative.
Support rapid troubleshooting and problem resolution related to battery system scope of responsibility.
Other duties as assigned.
Up to 20% travel (domestic and international).
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelors or Masters, in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field + 5 years’ experience
Demonstrated technical knowledge and working experience in development for automotive applications.
Working experience in supporting design of high voltage battery thermal systems and supplier management.
Experience in electric powertrain systems.
Demonstrated ability to achieve timely objectives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to grow personally and professionally, ready to learn and make use of new processes and techniques. Be resourceful with problem solving approach.
