Dartmouth Health Unit Nurse Manager - DHART in Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

Plans for, leads, coordinates and facilitates the provision of quality care and service for DHART, and facilitates the procurement of supplies/equipment and provides for adequate numbers and mix of staff to deliver patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the hiring process for Flight Nurses and Flight Paramedics.

  • Evaluates and manages performance of staff members.

  • Manages the department schedule. Plans staffing and adjustments on a daily basis.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates unit and organizational policies, procedures, and goals.

  • Provides leadership, consultation and collaboration with the director and other members of the health care team to design, evaluate and improve patient care systems and processes.

  • Encourages, supports, and provides educational opportunities for staff development.

  • Provides input regarding operational and capital budgets for the unit.

  • Assumes accountability for quality and regulatory management directives.

  • Ensures quality and appropriateness of patient care. Facilitates and monitors activities related to the delivery of patient care, ensuring evidenced based practice and minimum nursing practice standards are achieved in the clinical area.

  • Oversees patient flow processes. Strategizes to improve efficiency and eliminate barriers that impact patient and family centered care.

  • Administers nursing care to patients to maintain clinical skills. Assesses particular patient requirements or as support to patient care unit staff.

  • Provides for professional growth and development of patient care staff.

  • Assists and participates in the orientation of new staff in collaboration with Flight Nurse Educator.

  • Supports Shared Governance.

  • Supports education and staff development through participation and support of nursing research, education, informatics, quality and patient safety, professional development, and Shared governance. Collaborates with Clinical Instructors in planning, implementation, and evaluation of students’ clinical experience. Collaborates with the Office of Professional Nursing to educate, train, and develop staff to ensure competency and provide professional growth and development.

  • Supports and/or participates in research programs.

  • Provides DHART Leadership on Call coverage.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 2 years of flight experience required.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability required.

  • Excellent informatics, verbal, and written communication skills required.

  • Maintains all requirements of DHART Flight Nurse.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility

  • Specialty Certification, CFRN.

  • Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

  • Area of Interest:Nursing;

  • FTE/Hours per pay period:1.00 - 1.00 - 40 hrs/week;
