ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Election Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Voting Machine Technician position for the warehouse division. As a member of our team, you will test all voting machines on a regular schedule basis to ensure proper operations; uses electronic testing equipment and follows a standard testing sequence to identify possible areas requiring repair. Mobility to work in a typical office or warehouse setting, use standard office equipment and basic hand power tools, and drive a motor vehicle in order to deliver materials and repair equipment; strength to lift boxes of materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds and to maneuver equipment weighing in excess of 200 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND two (2) years of full-time experience in performing skilled mechanical and/or equipment maintenance. Four (4) election periods (any combination of primary or general election support periods) with warehouse experience prepping, programming, and repairing voting equipment to be used in an official election may be substituted for the two (2) full years of experience. Election warehouse support is desirable.
Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see attached resume" on your application.
Working Conditions: Work extended hours or emergency overtime during election periods.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Tests all voting machines on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure proper operations; uses electronic testing equipment and follows a standard testing sequence to identify possible areas requiring repair. Reviews printed records of each testing process; as a result of the testing process and/or after election usage, inspects machines for problems and determines maintenance and repair requirements; performs maintenance and adjustment and makes repairs within the scope of capability; arranges for warranty repair as appropriate. Prior to the election process, inserts printed ballot faces and memory cartridges and runs final tests to ensure correct operation. Arranges for and coordinates the delivery and pick-up of equipment and materials to and from voting locations on election days. Answers requests for service, travels to voting locations and repairs machines if possible to continue the voting process. Maintains the voting equipment in an active state in the event of challenged ballots. Organizes and prepares ballots, instructions and other materials required for each voting location; receives and verifies shipments of materials and assists in physically loading and transporting such supplies. Maintains accurate records and files related to the work performed. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Uses standard office equipment, electronic test equipment and hand and power tools in the course of the work. Drives a motor vehicle in the course of the work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
