We are currently seeking a Custodian (Lansing, MI) to work in our Lansing, MI office. This position will work 4:00pm to Mid-night, Flexible schedule.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): Clean facilities and work areas including furnishings, bathrooms, fixtures, walls and floors to ensure they meet health and safety standards and present an attractive appearance. Use maintenance supplies, remove waste material, and maintain inventory of tools and supplies. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors. Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers, empty and clean ash trays and cigarettes urns, replace light bulbs, and refill restroom dispensers.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meeting, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers and other equipment for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc. 5.Recruit, train and work with volunteers and treat all clients, volunteers, guests, and other employees in a courteous and respectful manner at all times while maintaining a cooperative atmosphere for everyone. Work with a volunteer counterpart to ensure key volunteers are utilized and ensure depth within the function.

Qualifications
Education: High School or equivalent required. Experience: 1 year of related experience preferred. Management Experience: N/A Skills & Abilities: Practical skills and knowledge of building maintenance and material management required. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Ability to work on a team. Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences.
