Role Profile

Position: Quality Manager

Job Location: La Porte (Houston), TX

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Exempt

Summary of the Role

Maintain and improve, the Company’s Quality Management System, designed to ensure continuous production of gaskets and quality of purchased products. Ensure compliance with relevant quality and reliability standards established by ASME, BPVC, API Q1, PED and ISO 9001. Lead, train and assign work to the quality control team. Plan and supervise Quality System Audits, evaluate corrective and preventive actions, and develop procedures and guidelines to improve the quality management system and process of the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and lead the efforts to correct customer issues and complaints relating to quality.

  • Supervise workers engaged in section and testing activities to ensure all the products meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Timely review and disposition of nonconforming materials.

  • Determine the root cause of product and process related issues and assist in the development of effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Utilize analytical and statistical tools and make data driven decision to deliver key business objectives, process improvements, and metric alignment that will result in cost reduction, cost avoidance, risk minimization, and services/product quality improvements.

  • Interact with vendors to ensure a high quality of all purchased products.

  • Work with LGG's quality inspectors abroad to ensure quality inspections on imported products.

  • Maintain an active role on internal Continuous Improvement teams

  • Represent the company in customer and regulatory agency audits as required by ASME codes, and ISO 9001 Certification.

  • Work with Contractor to maintain ISO 9001 recertification.

  • Conduct internal and external Quality Audits.

Skills and Abilities

  • Solid track record of quality system development and management.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, audit facilitation, corrective and preventative action programs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skill as well as strong ability to present both senior management and production workforce.

  • Ability to partner with cross-functional leadership and departments such as, Production and Engineering.

  • Report creation around data management and analysis.

  • Able to build relationships across functions and team-based operations in a constructive manner for the betterment of the overall organization.

  • Knowledge of metals and various materials, as well as manufacturing processes.

  • Strong computer and software skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and ERP systems

  • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution skills.

  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures

  • Use of Quality Engineering methods in inspection.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Industrial Quality Control experience.

  • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards

  • 2-3 years of management or supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate will be experienced in gaskets (or similar equipment) and manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field of study

  • Certification of quality control is a strong advantage, ISO 9001
