Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$65.550 - $84.580 - $103.611

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

The role of a Manager Neuroscience Specialty Clinic is multifaceted, focusing on the overall management of clinic operations within a hospital-based specialty clinic. This includes responsibilities such as strategic planning, employee management, budgeting, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and upholding high standards of patient care.

The manager is tasked with enhancing clinic performance and patient satisfaction by working collaboratively with medical staff, clinic employees, and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities encompass managing daily clinic operations, developing and implementing policies and procedures, overseeing employee recruitment, training and education, managing finances and resources, and ensuring quality care delivery.

The manager also directs patient flow management. Quality and safety are a priority, with the manager planning, directing, and monitoring quality care delivered to patients. The manager also oversees the scope of practice for clinic and administrative staff.

As a nursing leader, the Manager Specialty Clinic Operations represents the department in hospital committees, quality and safety activities, and information system applications, ensuring that the clinic operates efficiently and effectively while delivering comprehensive care to patients.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing OR

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business administration.

  • 3 years' experience in an ambulatory health care setting or other related clinical area.

  • 2 years leadership experience.

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Essential Functions

  • Physician Relations Develops and manage effective physician contracts for the department.Collaborates with physicians to create strong cohesive teamwork to ensure optimal service and quality outcomes.Builds and maintains a close, effective, and positive relationship with physicians regarding nursing issues to include quality measurement, documentation, scope of practice, and policy/procedure development.Monitors physician satisfaction with services and integrates improvement plans with operations managers/directors.

  • Leadership Provides management direction, guidance to direct develop, and operationalize the advancement of the Specialty Clinic to include development of disease management and transition of patients and new patient populations.Oversees the global operations of department. Serves as a mentor and leader to staff and department leadership.Collaborates with other department leadership members in gaining operational effectiveness. Outcomes of work include quality improvements, service satisfaction, and fiscal balance.Determines direction, goals, and objectives of assigned areas and ensures implementation of strategic and operating plans.Assists in developing long-range operational plans relative to services, programs, capital, and human resource planning; in developing and updating an annual marketing plan; monitors observed trends of service utilization for existing and services.Collaborates and interfaces with physicians, administration, managers, marketing, and other areas to determine focus areas for the patients and to prioritize resource allocation.Directs planning and daily operation of the Specialty Clinic including licensing, regulatory compliance, hiring, training, policy development, patient flow, billing, contracting, budgeting and quality measures in cooperation with other departments.

  • Staff Development Develop protocols and competencies with employees and provider support to ensure all employees have attained the skill mix level to ensure peak performance in the delivery of care or diagnostic tests.Oversee employee education to ensure the delivery of care is performed optimally to alleviate adverse outcomes, erroneous results, or poor customer service.Responsible for the employee development and training and implementing specific training programs.Developing and maintaining policy and procedures, developing yearly competencies, infection control, and patient safety education.

  • Program Development Collects and analyzes data to look for opportunities to grow department patient population. Develop programs and procedures that ensures and/or enhances operational efficiency and optimal service delivery.Leads and/or participates on task forces or committees as determined.Oversees the development and implementation of specific programs, products, and services. Involved in analysis of clinical service delivery models and recommends appropriate changes.Ensures effective marketing strategy for services.

  • Employee Management Oversee the hiring and orientation of employees for the department.Plans and manages the assigned clinical support personnel and programs, including operating in capital budgets, staffing, recruitment and retention, performance management and programs in service enhancement.Provides supervision and guidance to direct reports. Conducts employee interviews, hires staff, communicates expectations, and fosters leadership development, communication skills, and empowerment of these individuals through coaching, evaluation, corrective action, and leadership training.Responds to employee opinion survey data with action plans for improvement. Monitors and maintains staff turnover levels according to established system standards.Ensures staff is clear on job expectations and performance. Annually updates and reviews position descriptions. Complies with organizational performance appraisal system. Measures turnover and if it is controllable or non-controllable. Maintains established productivity standards.

  • Quality and Service Maintains quality patient care through use of clinical expertise, patient care interdisciplinary process and effective supervisory skills. Participates in the quality assurance process. Ensures delivery of quality patient care that meets all accreditation and regulatory standards. Establish quality assurance, process improvement and cost containment programs via departmental and interdisciplinary involvement. Responsible for periodic monitoring, timely and accurate reports. Develop quality outcome measures in conjunction with appropriate members of the medical staff for the department.Develops, and maintains safety policy and procedures related to department activities. Works proactively with biomed, risk management, nursing care areas, medical directors, and others to ensure on-going compliance.Develops systems, action plans and procedures to ensure quality and service outcomes for internal and external customers. Demonstrates teambuilding, teamwork, cooperation, and responsiveness.Responsible for the collection, analysis, and distribution of data for the department’s quality and service initiative as they relate to the department and patient satisfaction.Maintains close liaison with medical staff to ensure their involvement with the continuity of quality service outcomes and the resolution of operational problems.Provides management oversite for the care of patients.

  • Financial Management Accountable for establishing budget congruent with the strategic plan of the organization for the department evaluation and assessment of equipment, supplies, and labor needs of areas of responsibility.Has fiscal responsibility for operating budgets directly and through reports. Coordinates and recommends with medical staff input capital equipment needs required to ensure optimal service levels within areas of responsibility.Ensures that the financial objectives of the organization are met through participation in teams and work redesign efforts that lead to operational efficiency.

  • System Integration Participates on assigned committees.Establishes and maintains operational, clinical and performance standards.Collaborates with leaders, physicians, staff and other health care providers in establishing, implementing, and maintaining patient care, quality and service standards to meet patients' and internal clients' expectations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
