Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$43.379 - $55.973 - $68.567

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Serves as a clinical expert, educator, and consultant.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Dietetics

  • 2 Years Experience as a Clinical Dietitian

  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) - Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education -REQUIRED

  • CDR Registered Dietitian (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Individual and group education experience

Other Qualification Requirements

  • Registration with the American Dietetic Association

Essential Functions

  • Clinical expert/consultantCollaborates with the diabetes team to update clinical guidelines, procedures and policies.Maintains unit identified competencies, incorporating age-specific criteria as appropriate.Develops mutually collaborative, professional relationships with other departments/entities/external health care agencies.Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to integrate research-based interventions that enhance patient outcomes.Acts as a resource on complex patient care activities.Anticipates potential patient outcomes and takes appropriate action when care deviates or is not progressing.Participates in all service line activities including committees, marketing and community services.Responsible for actions, which result in improved patient outcomes.

  • CommunityProvides community education services as necessary.Participates in community organizations as representative of hospital.

  • Customer serviceConsistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with patients, visitors, staff members, and physicians.Handles problems in a professional and proactive manner. Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation and responsiveness.Exhibits effective communication strategies in an effort to create positive first impression with individuals as well as groups of patients, family, significant others, and members of the health care team.   • EducatorAssesses the patient's clinical and psychosocial status, diagnosis, and treatment plan to ensure appropriateness.Obtains, reviews and analyzes information in collaboration with the patient, family, significant other as related to educational needs.In collaboration with health team members, implements a comprehensive multidisciplinary training education plan indicated to achieve clinical outcomes.Sets patient-centered education goals in collaboration with healthcare team and implements plan modifications when necessary.Identifies patient risk factors and refers to appropriate health intervention programs.Identifies patient risk factors derived from the patient assessment data and refers to appropriate health intervention programs when care deviates or is not progressing.Demonstrates effective teaching methods appropriate to the patient's age, developmental level, gender, cultural background, language and education.

  • Group facilitatorIncorporate behavioral learning styles into group presentations.Able to present to multiple levels of learners simultaneously.Facilitates group discussions to aid in the learning process.Identifies patient risk factors derived from the patient assessment data and refers to appropriate health intervention programs when care deviates or is not progressing.Demonstrates effective teaching methods appropriate to the patient's age, developmental level, gender, cultural background, language and education.

  • Performance ImprovementParticipates in all service line activities including quality monitoring.Responsible for actions, which result in improved department outcomes.

  • Professional responsibilitiesDemonstrates excellent communication and team building skills.Maintains specialized skills certifications.Maintains CEUs according to most current ADA requirements.
