Cargill Trade Compliance Excellence Consultant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Job Purpose and Impact

The Trade Compliance Excellence Consultant ensures compliance of complex cross border trade activities using substantial trade compliance knowledge. In this position, you will take into account country and foreign government regulations to move goods internationally and execute the controls established by the appropriate functional areas. You will communicate effectively and influence and demonstrate leadership behaviors that are consistent with company values and high performance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply and maintain operations standards and best practices to execute corporate policies and risk control frameworks to comply with government laws and regulations.

  • Guide businesses and regional or local team on trade compliance operations requirements, data and documentation to facilitate imports and exports consistent with risk-based guidance from other functional teams.

  • Conduct trade compliance operations trainings, process reviews and risk analysis to ensure data integrity, process adherence, control structure and compliance performance.

  • Manage local customs broker operations, and develop a relationship with governmental entities in cooperation with other functional teams.

  • Liaise with partners to escalate compliance requests and receive guidance on new and changing regulations to implement changes in processes and controls.

  • Monitor metrics, manage data and analyze risk trends to ensure control for trade compliance operations.

  • Support risk assessments, ruling application, government audits/escalations, and voluntary disclosures.

  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Deep Incoterms knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge on customs regulations

  • Tax knowledge and understanding

  • Legal contractual analysis

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current global trade technology

  • Minimum of seven years of experience in customs, import/export
