We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Asst Vice President, Loan Doc & Proc Manager - Hybrid (Internal Job Title: Loan Doc & Proc Manager -C12 (AVP) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this role, you’re expected to:

  • The Loan Doc & Proc Mgr (AVP), provides full leadership and supervisory responsibility. Provides operational/service leadership and direction to team(s). Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added perspectives or advisory services. May contribute to the development of new techniques, models and plans within area of expertise. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Generally has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness of end results and shared responsibility for planning and budgets. Work affects an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family. Full supervisory responsibility, ensuring motivation and development of team through professional leadership to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations as well as direction of daily tasks and responsibilities. Individual must be accountable, ethical, results oriented, trust worthy and credible. Responsibilities:

  • This role will manage preparing and reviewing loan documentation while providing support to a variety of tasks related to the loan process. Activities will include independently processing and closing loans within a complex loans operation environment.

  • This role integrates subject matter and industry expertise within the loans documentation area.

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of how the loan function collectively integrates to contribute to achieving overall business goals

  • Provides value-added perspective or advice that contributes to the development of new techniques and the improvement of the loan documentation processes for the area

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area to resolve issues related to loan documentation processes

  • Responsible for escalating control gaps and issues to senior management.

  • Identifies loan related control deficiencies and implements appropriate procedures and solutions to mitigate any risk or control losses

  • Resolves complex problems where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of loan procedures and industry standards

  • Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated and unique situations, mostly but not limited to the loan documentation process

  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and reduce expenses Influences decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization

  • Assumes informal/formal leadership role within the team, is involved in the coaching and training of new recruits, and provides guidance and support to junior staff

  • Creates, develops and maintains effective relationships with colleagues, management, internal/external clients and stakeholders, and seeks to understand their needs and provides solutions

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience

  • Energetic leader who is able to lead and drive initiatives and deliverables

  • Sound knowledge of financial products, accounting principles and practices

  • High degree of numeracy, an analytical approach to tasks and problem solving skills are essential

  • Ability to understand complex data and condense into key themes

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience

Skills: Must Have

  • In-depth understanding of Business Processes, Systems and Tools used in the Loan Process

  • Comprehensive understanding of Knowledge of Loan Products and Loan Services

  • Adequate understanding of loans processes and procedures

  • Advanced knowledge of risk types, policies and control measures and processes

  • Significant ability to identify, mitigate, resolve, manage, and escalate risk and issues

Skills: Prefer to Have

  • Reasonable knowledge of accounting principles and accounting practices

  • Adequate experience managing, preparing and reviewing loan documentation

  • Reasonable knowledge of Financial Products, such as Cash Management, Treasury, the Trade Lifecycle

  • Adequate understanding of compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and adhering to Policies

  • Moderate ability to provide evaluative and ethical judgment to make decisions

  • General ability to view multiple perspectives, prioritize, adapt and multi-task

  • Adequate understanding of how to analyze and think critically and conceptually and interpretively to solve problems. Includes ability to identify opportunities, assess needs, conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses, synthesize insights and provide recommendations.

  • Effectively communicate (written and verbal) and present with diplomacy;

  • Acceptable ability to build and manage relationships through advising, collaborating, influencing, negotiating and persuading.

  • Demonstrates knowledge to identify opportunities to improve, and design processes and standard operating procedures, including managing KPIs and SLAs to monitor and enhance service quality and process integrity.

  • Adequate experience in implementing projects for system Implementation, technology enhancements through project management and coordination skills

  • General experience in leading, managing accountability and managing complexity; ability to coach, facilitate and guide to achieve results
