Job Description
The purpose of this job is to visit store locations as assigned and conduct independent verification of inventory on hand performing inventory control and loss prevention activities
Conduct full inventory counts at store level once per year supervising a third-party contractor team or internal count team, directing the count, and reporting results for each assigned store
Conduct low, partial, and cycle counts of inventory in high-level shrinkage categories at store level six-eight times per year working independently or with store-level personnel and communicating results to corporate personnel for each assigned store
Balance invoice statements from vendors assuring invoices, credits, and other transactions have been entered into the company’s computer systems ensuring Travel Center General Manager (TCGM) performed this function accurately and timely
Determine which invoices, credits, and returns need to be posted at store level or corporate level and when it should be posted in correlation to the receipt of inventory
Developing the ability to determine if internal theft is occurring based on point of sale (POS) through review of the closed circuit television system (CCTV) footage in connection with transaction exception report.
Determine when to write off inventory or post waste of non-salable inventory
Perform quarterly projects as assigned by audit managers and report on same
Perform administrative tasks such as completing expense reports and scheduling one’s own travel
Conduct deli food safety assessments at the store level and report results to management
Train Retail Sales Specialist (RSS) and TCGM on Suggested Ordering (SO),and inventory management, and Inventory procedures as requested and as needed
Investigate improprieties discovered through various means, verifying facts during store audit visits
Complete special projects as requested by the regional manager
Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members concerns are supported.
Shows the ability to ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent certificate required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred
A minimum 5 years’ retail store management experience with Pilot Flying J or a similar retailer with some inventory experience required
Specialized Knowledge
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required with growing Excel skills required
ServSafe Certification required
Familiarity with accounting and loss prevention requirements
