DESCRIPTION OF WORK As the head of the Technical Services and Permitting Section in the Knox District Mining Office, your main responsibility is to oversee and lead the team in charge of ensuring that all permitting activities and bond forfeiture reclamation work are done within the required time frames. You will primarily focus on reviewing and granting permits for both coal and non-coal applications. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the staff and addressing any complaints from external parties, which may involve conducting investigations in the affected areas.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Knox.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

      REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; and five years of professional environmental protection experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license or a valid Professional Geologist license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
