The New Jewish Home Superintendent in Kittay House - Bronx, New York
The New Jewish Home is seeking 1 full time Superintendent to join our team . This position is for the KITTAY House located at 2550 Webb Avenue, Bronx, NY 10468. This is NOT a live-in position.
Job Summary:
Assists with the operation, maintenance and repairs to the machinery and equipment thorough the facility. Assists in performing work to facilitate the necessary preventive, corrective and cosmetic maintenance in order to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment. Reports to the Engineering Supervisor.
Specific responsibilities:
Maybe assigned to a particular shift and observes and maintains the operating condition of the various machinery and equipment such as: boilers, air conditioning units, pumps, motors, fans and fire alarm systems.
While covering a shift, maintains a shift log of all temperatures, pressures and liquid levels of the running machinery and equipment.
Performs any necessary minor work related to preventive, corrective and cosmetic maintenance.
Maintains a clean , neat and safe work area.
Utilizes power and hand tools.
Attends the necessary in-service training sessions.
Completes and return all requisitions and time sheets.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Job Qualifications:
Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED)
Six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Specialized Skills:
Ability to use power and hand tools correctly and safely
Ability to read, write and speak effectively and professionally
Ability to do basic mathematical equations
Physical Demands:
The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects , tools or controls and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities are required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
