Carrier is seeking an experienced Product Management professional, to oversee the development of technology, partnerships and go to market actions in support of Carrier Commercial Energy Management Solutions (CEMS) strategies. The CEMS Product Manager will report to the CEMS Business Leader responsible for prioritizing projects and identifying opportunities for improvement to achieve business targets with a focus on customer value creation.

About this role:

The Product Owner, Commercial Energy Management Solutions will be responsible for leading the go to market actions to develop and strengthen Carrier’s position in the Commercial Energy Management Solutions space. This role will be responsible for developing customer centric value propositions, partnerships with leading market players, hardware and software integration roadmaps, competitive analysis and support the go to market objectives.

This role will work regularly with our 3rd party partners, utility companies, channel managers, product managers, and digital product owners to ensure alignment and revenue-maximizing strategies. This exciting opportunity will help launch Carrier into new markets and be integral in helping to shape the future direction of Commercial Energy Management Solutions at Carrier.

The successful candidate will have an innovative customer-first mindset and be forward-thinking striving to meet the future needs of the market. The candidate must have a balanced knowledge of marketing, business, innovation, and go-to-market strategy as well as be able to quickly learn and understand the technical aspects of Grid-Interactive Efficient Buildings and it’s elements that include DER (Distributed Energy Resource), Virtual Power Plants (VPP’s) and Building Controls systems. Foundational skills for this role include an understanding of the energy markets, experience in developing go-to-market strategies, the ability to work cross-collaboratively across the organization, the ability to work independently with minimal oversight, and general business management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collects and analyzes macroeconomics, industry, and target market information to forecast market size.

  • Conducts competitive product and service analysis, and market research of product consumer behavior and professional audience to develop product requirements and specifications.

  • Coordinates or participates in promotional activities or trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, or production managers, to market products or services.

  • Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and mid-term business strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, services, follow-on products, and/or industries to ensure profitability and positioning in the market.

  • Initiates and prioritizes projects, tracks product/service development and develops product/service launch plans to effectively manage a product or service category's life cycle and ensure profitability.

  • Develops strategic vision and market entrance strategies for Carrier in the Commercial Energy Solutions space.

  • Work with channel, sales, and marketing colleagues to define new go to market strategies in a multi-channel environment.

  • Differentiate and position Carrier in this emerging space to ensure customer value and optimize business return.

  • Evaluate potential markets through financial feasibility studies, market research, and planning.

  • Responsible for developing competitive incentive strategies for dealers and homeowners.

  • Works to develop strategic partnerships.

  • Works regularly with equipment, controls, and digital product managers to build a market-leading connected product portfolio.

  • Works with Carrier’s innovation team and leverages market research, competitive comparisons, and voice of customers to help drive technology development for the next 5 + years.

  • Clearly articulates Carrier’s unique solutions and value at speaking events such as with internal stakeholders, end users, sales, and channel meetings and events.

  • Fosters cross-function integration with Carrier and 3rd Party software and hardware platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 7 + years of combined experience in product ownership, engineering, business development or marketing

  • 3+ years of combined experience with DER (Distributed Energy Resource), Virtual Power Plants, Software, Energy, or Building Controls

  • 30- 40 % travel required (domestically)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Clear understanding of basic marketing and product development principles

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to handle multiple priorities.

  • Proven ability to execute with speed and exhibit a bias for action mindset.

  • Strong ability to work in diverse, cross functional project teams to achieve high levels of performance in a multifaceted, changing environment. Successful experience with collaborating in a matrix environment.

  • Background or experience in energy storage product management preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to pull data from multiple sources and synthesis in both graphic and verbal format, so that it is easily understood by the target audience.

  • Ability to think outside the box, innovate, take risks, and implement progressive, sustainable solutions.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner to identify the needs of the organization and/or customer, articulate necessary proposals, and see projects through to completion.

  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Preferred location Atlanta Metropolitan area in a hybrid home/office work environment
