Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience

Work Experiences:

  • 2+ years of Sourcing, Product Development, Buying, Planning or Production Management experience

  • 1+ Sourcing project management (Previously said: Team Management Experience)

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels

  • Advanced organizational skills required to mitigate risk and meet multiple deadlines in frequently changing environment

  • Knowledge of impact cost modeling

  • Ability to analyze, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts to make effective business decisions

  • Responds positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values to accomplish goals and solve problems

  • Ability to develop and execute strategic category goals

  • Lead with integrity and able to propel a team toward the completion of goals

  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle and production management; ability to execute seasonal development of vendor matrix, country of origin assessment and sourcing strategy

  • Advanced knowledge of Import logistics, Customs and Factory Compliance

  • Understanding of Quality Assurance

  • Ability to measure Key Performance Indicators, analyze results, formulate and implement corrective action plans

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel and Power Point skills preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate pricing with suppliers using fact based approach and market insights driven from cost modeling, commodity impacts and competition to achieve financial benefits.

  • Identify new suppliers and develop suppliers that achieve Category sourcing strategy and adhere to Academy's ethical standards

  • Supplier Management and managing the interactions with the organizations that supply the goods and services to Academy including relationship building, data review and analysis, performance management and development and improvement. Document supplier profile; analyze and recommend necessary changes to supplier base

  • Increase technical knowledge of assigned product categories to: improve timelines, mitigate sourcing risks and reduce costs by identifying production run opportunities, reengineering of products and supplier consolidation

  • Responsible for the Import PO placement process. Execute aggregate buys across categories using nominated suppliers to drive cost efficiencies and standardization across multiple categories

  • Drive the timely completion of key milestones necessary for downstream and upstream partners and identify risks that may affect timelines and lead efforts to mitigate risks

  • Accountable for achieving On-Time shipment and Delivery of assigned Import Category to drive sales and increase Private Brand market share

  • Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness

  • Collaborate with Suppliers, Merchants and other stakeholders to maintain OTB accuracy

  • Analyze KPI's and develop corrective action plans to achieve strategic goals

  • Manage Purchase Order shift requests to assist on the achievement of category sales plans, inventory and turn goals

  • Prepare and conduct presentations to management and vendors

  • Lead cross functional meetings as required

  • Support supplier/factory set ups. Leads supplier on-boarding and training process for assigned category.

  • Assist in the documentation of Standard Operating Procedures

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rules

  • Duties may change; team members may be required to perform other duties as assigned

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties

  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior

  • Regular attendance required

  • Ability to work flexible hours such as evening, weekends, and holidays as necessary

  • 5% travel is required
