HEAD OF IP SEARCH AND INTELLIGENCELocation: This role can be placed in Delft, NL or Kaiseraugst, CH Hybrid

As the Head of IP Search and Intelligence at dsm-firmenich, you'll lead a high-performing team of patent and literature searchers and IP intelligence analysts. Your role involves optimizing IP intelligence processes through the evaluation and implementation of cutting-edge tools and technologies, as well as the development of team capabilities. By monitoring emerging trends and maximizing individual, digital and AI resources, you’ll contribute to the deep integration of IP intelligence into dsm-firmenich's overall business and research strategy.

Your key responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of patent and literature searchers and IP intelligence analysts, providing guidance, training, and support and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

• Evaluate and implement optimal IP intelligence tools, services and new technologies to streamline competitive intelligence processes and enhance the quality of insights; manage network of service providers.

• Formulate and execute a comprehensive strategy for integrating digital and AI technologies into the IP competitive intelligence function.

• Stay abreast of emerging AI trends and advancements to ensure the selection of cutting-edge solutions.

• Work with IP colleagues, stakeholders in dsm-firmenich businesses, and Science and Research to develop a deep understanding of dsm-firmenich technologies and integrate IP intelligence into overall business and research strategy.

• Develop and maintain an internal organizational structure of searchers and IP intelligence analysts that fits the needs of the dsm-firmenich organization.

• Coordinate workload distribution, set team and individual priorities, and ensure the team's adherence to timelines and quality standards.

• Attract and retain top talent and ensuring their professional development; be a role model for Safety and Care and integrity.

  You bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a scientific field and 10+ years experience in patent searching and IP intelligence or a related field.

• Training in patent law, with project management experience a plus.

• Demonstrated understanding of industry-standard patent intelligence tools and methodologies.

• Experience managing a team, including a track record of people development and team leadership.

• Excellent analytical capabilities, analysis complex business environments, identify strategic business opportunities and turning them into tangible & scalable value.

• Excellent people leadership skills with the ability to build high performing teams.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills across all levels, ability to translate complex content into contextually meaningful messages.

• Ability to build trust-based working relationships across the organization and to work in fast-paced and changing environment with varying levels of workload and pressure.
