Job Description:

The College of Pharmacy is recruiting for an exceptional candidate to serve as an Academic Program Specialist for our PharmD students on the Jacksonville campus. The Academic Program Specialist will serve as support in administration and management of courses, and facilitation of student support to include classroom support/management. The incumbent will assist in collaboration with the faculty to provide smooth delivery of the course, and assistance with students. The Academic Program Specialist acts as primary liaison for students on the Jacksonville campus for questions pertaining to grading, due dates, emails, points of contact, etc. This position will also provide student affairs support in the areas of academic coordination, campus operations related to student affairs, student development, student services & advising, admissions & recruitment, event management, and community relations.

Job Duties

Course Support: Assists in the management of class sessions for interactive group learning in the blended learning curriculum. In collaboration with the faculty, academic coordinators, and instructional design team, assist with the management and delivery of multiple courses, including course content, and other course related materials. Responsible for partnering with the instructional technologies team to get course content delivered/executed.

Student and Faculty Support: Responsible for support relating to the delivery of the course with the ability to perform independently with input from the faculty member. This position will serve as the primary liaison for student contact in reference to course logistics on distance campuses. Communicates, and conveys pertinent information to students, providing information as requested including accessing learning materials and directions for assignments. This position requires the ability to provide problem resolution and effective decision-making concerning student issues.

Student affairs support: In collaboration with the Academic Program Specialist II, this position will provide support related to academic coordination, campus operations related to student affairs, student development, student services & advising, admissions & recruitment, event management, and community relations. These duties include but are not limited to campus operations for student affairs including record keeping, course registration, campus communication, student organizations, leadership development, student conduct, and other various program/curriculum specific requirements impacting students. Also responsible for assisting with recruitment and community relations. Works in collaboration with Communications Director to impact local recruitment strategy. Supports the campus tour program for external and special guests and coordinates student volunteer schedules as directed. Collaborates with the Academic Program Specialist II and various campuses and college units to support College-wide events such as Orientation, Professional Coating Ceremony, Spring Awards and Graduation.

Expected Salary:

Expected salary is $50,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in facilitating groups/learners

  • Basic knowledge of computer and AV technology

  • Basic knowledge of education/training software (such as Canvas, Examsoft, and virtual classroom software)

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Ability to identify when input from others is needed

  • Ability to solve problems confidently

  • Demonstrated initiative when encountering new situations or problems

  • Ability to maintain confidences and interact with discretion when needed, while operating in a tactful and professional manner at all times

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
