Registered Nurse positions have various job responsibilities and functions within this agency. Depending on the assignment, the RN works in an Inpatient, Outpatient, or Residential Treatment Program in a correctional facility or as part of Corrections Mental Health Program. The employee may be hired for a specific area and assigned to any or all ambulatory or inpatient settings within the complex or facility.

Registered Nurse P11 is an experienced-level nurses, performing a broad range of nursing duties. No specific experience is required.

Registered Nurse 12 function as a senior worker or as emergency/clinic nursing services specialist. One year of experience as a RN is required; or, a master's or bachelor's degree in nursing and six months of experience as a RN.

Duties of senior level positions may include:

Duane Waters Health Care Facility -This is a senior Registered Nurse position that requires advanced clinical decision-making skills and judgment. The senior level RN is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team. He/she provides direct patient care independently on all units of the Health Center. The senior level RN is expected to initiate and sustain life saving care and measures as appropriate, as well as perform the full range of clinical nursing duties. The complexity of the work exceeds written, established methods and procedures often available and, therefore, the senior level RN is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment in selecting the most appropriate course of action. The RN 12 functions with minimal supervision in the provision of total patient care on the inpatient units. He/she will function as "Charge Nurse". The job requires daily contact with prisoners whose security levels will range from minimum to maximum. This position is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

These positions provide a stepping stone for advancement into supervisory positions.

The positions are located at the Duane Waters Health Center in Jackson County.

PLEASE NOTE: New Hires for this facility will receive a one-time signing bonus of $5,000. The bonus will be paid out as $1,500 gross pay adjustment on the employee's first pay warrant and the remaining $3,500 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours) of satisfactory service. If the employee leaves within one year of the appointment, they will be required to pay back the entire bonus.
