Description

The Vice President of Accounting is responsible for overseeing and/or supervising account analyses and reconciliations, devising internal reports useful to the accounting department and other departments; maintaining SOX compliance; issuing internal statements and reports on a timely basis, and meeting all external reporting requirements and deadlines.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Directs all and aspects of accounting operations, oversees all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting.

• Analyzes company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets.

• Issues regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.

• SEC reporting experience and SOX compliance background desired.

• Provides strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.

• Develops and maintains necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting.

• Ensures that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

• Oversees accounting staff.

• Assists senior management in financial planning and results management.

• Works with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and defines appropriate reports for tracking.

• Coordinates, prepares, and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

• Coordinates and/or prepares tax schedules, returns and information.

• Manages tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.

• Builds an accounting department and increases staff competency as the company grows.

• Interacts with board of directors.

Requirements

  • CPA required.

  • Public Audit background with a BIG 4 accounting firm highly preferred.

  • Accounting Leadership experience with a large team

  • SOX & SEC Reporting Experience highly preferred as well as experience in all general accounting areas (GL, AR/AP, Payroll, Reporting, Tax Planning, etc.)

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance with an advanced degree highly preferred.

  • Experience with Oracle, Excel & SQL highly preferred.
