VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital is a high volume, AAHA accredited, state-of-the-art hybrid/specialty referral and 24-hour critical care hospital located in Irving. We are a fast paced teaching hospital that provides an amazing learning environment and a rewarding caseload. With specialty/emergency and general practice medicine under one roof and over 60 staff members on our team, there is always an opportunity to grow and advance your skills here.

We are currently accepting applications for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU):

Our ICU department is fully equipped and staffed to provide the maximum level of care 24/7 to both incoming critical and non-critical emergencies, transfers from both our referring veterinarians and internal specialty services, and post-operative patients from surgical procedures. We work on a wide variety of cases on cats and dogs, and in our ICU ward the most critical patients receive top notch intensive care using advanced techniques and specialized equipment. We are seeking experienced technicians or assistants to work on both our emergency service as well as in our ICU.

Emergency and/or ICU Technicians:

• Our ICU technician position requires a veterinary technician with a minimum of 2 years of current experience in veterinary medicine; emergency experience is not required but is considered a plus.

• Skills required include: Small animal restraint and handling, basic and advanced nursing care, venipuncture and IV catheterization, anesthesia monitoring, and general knowledge of veterinary medicine.

• Responsibilities include: Providing nursing care to both our stable and critical hospitalized patients, triaging and stabilizing incoming emergencies, providing treatment to our outpatients, and maintaining a clean and stocked treatment area.

Additional Info:

• Position involves working weekend shifts

• We utilize a 4-day work week

• Seeking a full-time candidate for now

• Unlicensed candidates should either be in progress of obtaining their license or intending to pursue licensing in the near future
