Oracle Senior Data Center Engineer in INZAI CITY, Japan

Job Description

As a Senior Data Center Engineer for OCI Data Centers, you will function as the main liaison between other technology teams and the whole aspect of a Data Center.

You will be the key person in maintaining the entire Data Center Operations run aspect which involves but are not limited to the following:

  1. Facilities

  2. Build and Space Management

  3. Health and Safety, Security and Compliance

  4. Capacity

  5. Incident, Problem, and Change Management

  6. Supplier Management

You will be supporting the organization’s growth path and will be recognized as a “Technical Expert” with a focus on core Data Center Infrastructure and Operations.

You will handle complicated issues and large-scale events (Incidents) using our internal processes, tools and the knowledge of when and how to utilize our internal and external partners in resolving the issue at a timely manner.

You will be in charge in ensuring that the Data Center operates in an optimum level and that maintenances are carried out properly and on time.

You are able to execute projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects.

You have sufficient experience in working inside a Data Center or similar facility.

You are process oriented and understands the concept of Service Level Agreement (SLA).

You are familiar with using Atlassian Tools, Microsoft Applications, Slack, Zoom and other tools which are key in managing Data Center Operations.

You are able to communicate professionally and effectively in both written and oral format.

You are able to adopt to change quickly.

You are able to work under pressure and manage your time efficiently.

You are able to identify and prioritize tasks based on the needs and goals of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the intricacies of Data Centers within your designated region.

  • Ensures Data Center site’s compliance to standards, policies, and guidelines.

  • Manage and maintain logical records and systems supporting the Data Center Operations.

  • Collaborate with regional and business leaders to optimize performance, enhance reliability, and improve efficiency across collocated, leased, and owned data center infrastructures.

  • Participate in operational reviews, gathering and analyzing technical data to pinpoint and rectify existing reliability and availability concerns.

  • Offer expertise to address and mitigate global resiliency, reliability, and availability risks.

  • Facilitate the intake, evaluation, and resolution of issues related to collocated, leased, and owned data center builds, focusing on the provision of quality improvement recommendations.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to set and maintain standards, ensuring consistency and reliability in service delivery.

  • Approach challenges professionally with maturity and a positive attitude while consistently offering innovative and creative solutions.

  • Maintains the infrastructure health of the Data Center.

  • Conducts audits for power, mechanical capacity and oversees upgrades and maintenances.

  • Identify and address potential issues to proactively prevent an actual incident.

  • Collaborate with both internal teams and external partner(s) to address complicated issues and large-scale events (incidents).

  • Host or participate in escalation/critical incident meetings.

  • Drive or contribute Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Actions (CA) relating to Data Center Operations.

  • Provide after-hours support as necessitated.

  • Curate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation concerning corporate data centers and operational procedures.

  • Coordinate work and escalations while maintaining a positive relationship with external partners and vendors.

  • Liaise with Local Colocation Partners to comprehend and synchronize site utility requisites.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and Coloctaon Partners to validate the functionality of a site’s electrical, mechanical and security systems.

  • Ensure timely Rack Deployment/Decommissioning.

  • Maintain capacity-related records and identify solutions to improve Data Center Capacity utilization.
