Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

The Business Excellence Development Engineer role is a Rotational Development Role for recently graduated students (< 2 years) with majors in Engineering. The role gives the applicant the opportunity to gain a broad perspective on the core Medical Devices functions that are critical to the manufacturing of products while developing key core knowledge, such as Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, Good Manufacturing Practices among others.

The Business Excellence Development Engineer can rotate in any of the business areas of the company including New Product Development, Project Engineering, Sustaining Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Business Excellence, among others. In each rotation, the Business Excellence Development Engineer will be required to lead, support, and/or make selected operations and/or engineering projects, which may include process/equipment optimization and sustainability initiatives aimed to drive safety, quality, service, and/or financial improvements.

Essential Job Functions:

• Plan and design the implementation of assigned projects. Responsibilities include project management, planning, team facilitation and project status updates and may include supervision of associates

• Periodic reporting of assigned project status, achievements completed, pending activities among other project related information

• Leads or assist projects from any plant department as scheduled in the role rotation charters established

• Be able to work on different type of projects, such as product and process improvements, cost reduction projects, labor efficiency improvements, supplier and raw material related improvements, manufacturing equipment improvements, facilities improvements, quality control projects among others

• Develops and implement Validation Protocols (RSK, IQ, OQ, PQ, etc.) as needed per project assigned

• Uses Lean Six Sigma tools for project development (such as DMAIC methodology) while maintaining a Zero-Loss approach to the solutions identified

• Collaborates with BDPS Component Leaders / Steering Team activities as needed

• Follows the cGMP’s, Quality Standards and established policies and/or procedures

• Generate document Change Requests (CR’s) in Master Control System

• Collaborate with different internal and external collaborators, departments or teams to ensure successful project implementation

• Perform technical investigations

• Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

• Use creativity to further develop and shape this role

• Perform any other related duties.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering graduate or student

• Graduation or expected graduation dates must be between June 2023 and December 2024

• Experience working with MS Windows and MS Office with preferred advanced knowledge in Excel

• MS Project is a plus

• Must be capable of independent work; self-starter, highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

Knowledge and Skills:

• Effective skills on analytical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal relationships, written and oral communication, planning/organization and project management skills

• Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures

• Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and must have good communication skills both oral and written

• Demonstrated ability to work towards goal achievement

• Is able to quickly adapt working in different department and teams. Fast paced learning and execution

• Teamwork oriented

This position is a limited term assignment which will include benefits such as (medical, health, dental, Christmas bonus and performance bonus). Eligibility for these benefits will be based on the eligibility requirements as determined by the BD Total Rewards policy, and is anticipated to last approximately through 1/14/2026 (18 months).
