Job/Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Immunization Program Manager and with guidance from the Texas Vaccines For Children (TVFC) Team Lead, this position performs routine public health work. Work involves conferring with local health agencies, private physicians, individuals, and community groups on vaccines and the prevention of vaccine preventable diseases. Works in areas such as compliance with CDCs Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program requirements. Conducts quality assurance Site/Follow-Up Visits and unannounced visits. Assists in the recruitment and retention of providers in the TVFC program and the assessment of immunization records as assigned. Utilizes continuous quality improvement techniques during professional functions. Accounts for vaccines by compiling and tabulating data, checking documents for accuracy, handling and maintaining files, including digital. Supports the TVFC Team Lead by reviewing the CDC Provider Evaluation and Assessment Reporting (PEAR) system monthly and completing onsite follow-up activities with individual provider sites on or before the established deadline. This position routinely deals with a wide variety of internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, laypersons, social service agencies, local health departments, central office staff, allied health, physicians, nurses, hospitals, schools, community service groups, and child care facilities. Compliance with DSHS Immunization Policy required. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.(35%) Conducts quality assurance site visits to TVFC Regional Public Health Clinics (i.e., DSHS and Local Health Department clinics) utilizing the CDC Provider Evaluation Assessment and Reporting system (PEAR) and Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (IQIP) software to complete and document the visits. Conducts site visits following instructions and using appropriate report forms. Provides corrective action recommendations to clinical staff and Immunization program leadership. Completes required follow-up activities and accurately document all corrective actions are taken. Conduct unannounced site visits to TVFC Providers as indicated. Follows site visit protocols; plan visits by phone or mail; prepares materials for visits and use appropriate report forms and documents. Requires field work 3-4 days per workweek within the 16 county region. This is primarily day trips with minimal overnight travel.(30%) Ensures all vaccine orders are open in a timely manner. Works with staff and providers to identify needs and provides training and technical assistance by phone. Works with staff to meet any additional needs (training, education, technical assistance, etc.); provides written approved corrective action plan to clinical staff; follows up to ensure corrective actions are taken. Report findings to team lead, address issues; make recommendations to improve process, produces letters, memos, forms, lists, and other documents. (15%) Under the direction of the TVFC team lead, review and process Annual TVFC provider enrollment and profile forms for accuracy and completeness. Contacts providers to clarify/correct forms as needed prior to submission to the Austin office. Ensures all contacts with providers are properly documented in PEAR. Reviews provider profile data, inventory and maximum stock levels for accuracy.
