Centre Technologies Senior Security Engineer in Houston, Texas

We are excited to announce we are expanding and looking to grow our team with a new Senior Security Engineer Position Summary As a Security Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our customer’s and Centre’s environment, information, and personnel against potential threats. Drawing upon your extensive expertise in security protocols, risk management, and industry best practices, you will lead initiatives to fortify our defenses, mitigate vulnerabilities, and ensure the overall resilience of our security posture. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Security Standards and Framework

  • Develop security standards based on known industry standard architectures

  • Working with other lines of business to co-develop Centre and customer best practices.

  • Analyze current security practices, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security measures into business process framework such as: standards/best practices, onboarding/offboarding of security customers, security tool optimization, proactive/improvements and security escalations.

  • Risk Management

  • Assist with risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within Centre and Centre’s customer environments.

  • Devise and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies to protect sensitive information and critical assets.

  • Stay abreast of emerging security threats and provide proactive recommendations to mitigate risks.

  • Incident Response and Crisis Management

  • Develop and refine incident response plans to address security breaches and incidents effectively.

  • Participate in security incident investigations, providing timely and accurate reporting.

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and swift response to security incidents.

  • Security Awareness and Training

  • Assist with security awareness programs to educate employees on security best practices.

  • Helping to enhance the security knowledge and skills of staff members.

  • Foster a culture of security awareness and compliance throughout the organization.

  • Security Technology Integration

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement cutting-edge security technologies and tools.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security measures into existing and new technologies.

  • Compliance and Regulation

  • Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting security.

  • Ensure organizational compliance with applicable security standards and certifications.

  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address security-related legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare and deliver complete and concise documentation for all projects/tickets

  • Present progress reports to immediate supervisor and or Project Manager (if so assigned)

  • Manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment

  • Quickly turn business problems into technical solutions

  • Participate in on-call schedule serving as one of the highest levels of escalation for security issues.

  • Entry of timesheets, expense reports and documentation on or before deadline

    Education/Experience/Certifications

  • 10+ years hands-on IT experience

  • Associates degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (Bachelor degree preferred).

  • Proven experience as a Security SME with a track record of successful security program management.

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.

  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence positive security behaviors across an organization.

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2 and higher

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Windows desktops, Linux desktops and mobile devices

  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot IP networks and firewalls

  • Advanced to expert knowledge and understanding of all layers of the OSI model

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and compliance policies such as PCI, HIPPA, HITECH Act, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.

  • Advanced knowledge of data loss prevention

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Minimal travel may be required between datacenters and customers

  • Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

  • Occasional lifting (lift and/or move up to 50 pounds) may be required
