Robert Half Revenue Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas

Description An established oil and gas company based in West Houston, seeking an experienced and dedicated Revenue Accounting Supervisor to oversee the revenue accounting department.

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise revenue close processing related to revenue distribution and ensure accuracy and completeness of journal entries and accruals.

• Review and post revenue entries managed by Revenue Accountants for both operated and non-operated properties.

• Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of revenue-related general ledger accounts.

• Responsible for filing and reconciling Texas severance taxes monthly.

• Oversee the revenue entries in OGSYS software, including manual input and data uploads.

• Prepare entries to void revenue checks in OGSYS and record manual revenue payment entries to clear GLO and University Land Royalty payments.

• Assist consultants with annual escheat reports for states’ unclaimed property reporting requirements.

• Oversee preparation of 1099s for revenue owners and 1042 reports for foreign revenue owners.

• Prepare monthly production reconciliation reports reviewing actuals versus accruals.

• Review and approve revenue deck changes including new deck setups, changes to decks, and revenue distribution based on directives from Land Administration.

• Collaborate with other departments and companies to obtain necessary data for accurate revenue booking.

• Investigate and resolve production vs. revenue discrepancies and locate missing revenues.

• Coordinate with other departments on required data for company acquisitions and divestitures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of oil and gas principles and procedures.

• Understanding of federal and state regulations regarding royalty payments and production taxes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally, knowledge of OGSYS.

• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work well on cross-functional teams.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.

• Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; advanced degree or certification preferred.

• Minimum 7+ years of accounting experience in the oil and gas industry, with 3+ years in a supervisory role.

• Expertise in the usage of OGSYS software would be a plus.

• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• An ability to multitask and delegate tasks effectively.

• Strong understanding of federal and state financial regulations.

This is a hybrid opportunity. Compensation is up to 150K.
