MD Anderson Cancer Center Fire Sprinkler Technician in Houston, Texas

Work Schedule: 7am-3:30pm

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Fire Sprinkler Technician position is to provide journey-level work associated with hydraulic fire protection systems, and components.

Perform code complaint inspections, progressive inspections, above ceiling inspections, and concealed inspections. Complete documentation associated with inspections, CMMS work orders, IREQs, and outages associated with the inspections. The Sprinkler Technician shall have a journey-level knowledge of routine and preventive maintenance on fire protection systems, conduct in house repairs, troubleshoot, and determine what is needed to resolve issues associated with the task.

In house repairs includes: replacement of sprinkler heads, other damaged and non- functioning components of the fire protection systems. Also, the Sprinkler Technician shall have a working knowledge of the operation of the fire alarm systems that are interfaced with the sprinkler systems. The Sprinkler Technician shall perform investigations of outages as prescribed in divisional / departmental procedures of the fire suppression systems and determine what valves need to be closed to perform the outage task. The Sprinkler Technician shall have a journey-level knowledge on fire protection systems to assure the proper operation of the Fire and Life Safety Systems and be able to read and interpret prints and other technical documentation essential to inspecting and completing Fire life and Safety projects. Assure all MDACC policy, standards, and safety procedures are followed. This include lock out and tag out of equipment and wearing the proper PPE. The sprinkler technician shall be on call, be willing to assist other crafts and perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent. Five years journeyman level experience in the mechanical trade, to include three years experience with fire alarm or sprinkler systems. Class A, B or C valid Texas driver's license depending on the type and weight of vehicle to be operated and number of passengers to be carried and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.
