Essential Job Functions

  • Mechanical testing on the Generator parts including bending, shear, thermal expansion, and friction coefficients analyses.

  • Collaborate with clients, reviewed specifications, and used engineering principles and knowledge of test equipment capabilities to develop a test plan to meet the objectives.

  • Configure computer-based data acquisition system for laboratory data gathering and equipment control.

  • Mechanical and electrical specifications for systems and components for new products against requirements

  • You will need analytical skills to perform analysis on deviated parts to understand acceptability.

  • You will need coordination skills to interfacing and supporting manufacturing, suppliers, and business partners to assure that design and test intent from conceptual definition to finished product is achieved.

  • You will need to have wide latitude for independent action, judgment, and decision making. The role requires qualities to integrate successfully into a global team of engineers.

  • You will need to be a team player to take direction from other members of the design team and actively take on independent actions for testing and data analysis.

  • Design test fixtures using 3D modeling software and derived 2D drawings and customized new specialized test fixtures for mechanical and electrical tests.

  • You will need to develop mechanical solutions, including design calculations, to meet stator armature product and service needs.

  • In conjunction with Non-Metallics lab, develop mechanical, and testing plans for components and assemblies and oversee or perform actual tests as needed. Interpret test results and recommend appropriate actions.

  • You will need experience to work on RCA investigations for performance and warranty issues on generator components.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS Mechanical Engineering with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to understand operation and functions of the power generator.

  • Ability to navigate component and assembly drawings and identify parts in a bill of material (BOM).

  • Ability to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Strong analytical, experimental, statistical aptitude.

  • Ability to do operations with Microsoft office tools like Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to be a cross-functional team leader with good interpersonal skills.

  • Work from Schenectady, NY

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.

  • Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.

  • Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.

  • Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9 AM to 4 PM

Location: Schenectady, NY (No remote or hybrid)

Travel: Minimal < 5%

Compensation type: Salary Exempt with a competitive package dependent on level of experience
