The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Houston, Texas region. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities

• Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

• Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

• Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

• Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

• Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

• Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

• Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

• Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

• Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

• Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

Requirements

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

• Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

• Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

• Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

• Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

• CPA/MBA preferred
