ManpowerGroup Automation Engineer in Houston, Texas

Our client, a leader in the energy sector, is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team. As an Automation Engineer, you will be part of the Automation and Controls Department, supporting the Pipeline Operations and Technical Teams. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a self-starter attitude that will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Automation Engineer

Location: Houston, TX 77002

Pay Range: $55.00-65.00 per hour

What’s the Job?

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain PLC-based and Flow Computer automation systems for pipeline and storage facilities

  • Implement and troubleshoot automation system networks, specifying communication protocols and hardware

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate facilities and manage design changes

  • Lead capital projects, including developing scope, managing contractors, and controlling budgets

  • Provide on-call technical support and on-site services, including commissioning, system installation, and troubleshooting

What’s Needed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5-10+ years of experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Systems Integration, or related field

  • Proficiency in GE/Emerson PLC systems and Wonderware HMI systems (InTouch, Application Server)

  • Strong knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet) and flow computer systems (ABB Spirit)

  • Experience with project management, control panel design (UL508A, NEC), and hazardous area applications (API 500, API 1165)
