ManTech Software Engineering Intern in Herndon, Virginia

ManTech’s Mission Intelligence Division is looking for a Junior Software Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer of 2024. This exciting opportunity will support the development of a proof of concept cloud based software solution. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering new capabilities and enhancements to a cloud native, web based software application. The ideal candidate will have web development experience and work collaboratively with the Tech Lead to rapidly iterate and develop new capabilities for the solution. Work will primarily be performed onsite at the ManTech Herndon office with limited opportunities for remote work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support development and enhancement of proof of concept cloud native web application

  • Delivering capabilities into the application tied to requirements from the Tech Lead

  • Advise solution team on software engineering best practices including testing strategies, performance tuning, and system architecture

  • Demonstrate the technical background and skills to perform in all phases of software design, development, documentation, and implementation

  • Provide recommendations to refactor and improve system capabilities and performance

  • Other related technical duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical study

  • 0-2 years of work experience

  • US citizen with interest and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance

  • Familiarity with software programming languages

  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks like React, Angular, Vue, etc.

  • Familiarity with cloud services and providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • Familiarity building application programming interfaces (APIs)

  • Experience with version control tools such as Git

  • Familiarity with Agile software development techniques

  • Ability to work independently or under generalized supervision with strong interpersonal and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 0-2 years of professional experience

  • Demonstrated experience with Python or Javascript

  • Demonstrated experience with front-end, back-end, or full stack web development

  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence / machine learning

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Individuals must be a U.S. Citizen and either hold an active US Security Clearance or must be eligible to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
