Job Description:

Support mission-critical initiatives and enable the growth of our business as a Accounting Supervisor at GDIT. Working on the Finance team, you’ll become an integral part of how GDIT is able to ensure the safety and security of our nation.

As an Accounting Supervisor at GDIT, you will be joining our Fixed Assets team to monitor the daily activity for assigned direct reports while providing support in associated areas within Financial Services. In addition, support other divisions/departments related to all transactions pertaining to fixed assets (personal property and equipment).

HOW AN ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to interact successfully with people in a hybrid work environment

  • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to direct reports

  • Review voucher packages and new asset record upload files prepared by staff to ensure new asset records meet the criteria for capitalization per the fixed asset policy

  • Interface and post current mass additions (new asset records) listed on upload files prepared by direct reports

  • Review and post asset record retirements prepared by direct reports

  • Experience in the fixed assets capitalization process as you will be assigned to create new asset records for complex business sectors

  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset is necessary to identify and resolve departmental issues

  • Interact frequently with department managers, program staff, and other business area leaders

  • Financial monthly review with manager to provide insight into monthly activity

  • Assist manager in special projects

  • Update Desk Top Training instructions for fixed asset processes

  • Review and approve direct reports biweekly time sheet in accordance with the GDIT Time Keeping Policy

  • Participate in the annual goal setting initiative for direct reports

  • Write annual performance evaluation, assign performance rating, determine merit scale, schedule performance review, and hold career/performance conversation with direct reports

  • Be knowledgeable of GAAP Accounting rules, SOX compliance, internal controls, and fixed assets policies/procedures

  • Be knowledgeable of the concept of sales & use tax, tax methods, and tax depreciation as it relates to fixed assets

  • Participate in financial system conversions, upgrades, and data testing sessions

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field. In lieu of degree, 4+ additional years of experience is required.

● Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience

● Required Technical Skills: Excellent in Microsoft Excel to include Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, other advanced formulas, and strong MS Office skills.

● Required Skills and Abilities: Experience in all aspects of fixed assets accounting associated with the monthly close cycle, financial reporting requirements, general ledger journal entries, and general ledger account reconciliations, strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of an organization. Sound organization skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency. Strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.

● Preferred Skills: Oracle experience, Government Contracting experience, people management experience, GAAP Accounting rules, SOX compliance, internal controls, and fixed assets policies/procedures

The likely salary range for this position is $76,690 - $93,150. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
