Aerotek Maintenance Mechanic in Henderson, Nevada

Description:

Primary Function: To remove, inspect, repair, replace, install, and maintain all mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, piping, vessels, structural steel, etc. in accordance with clients mechanical integrity procedures, safe work procedures, and written procedures for individual equipment; to perform general cutting, fit-up, tack welding, and complete welding as required using various welding and cutting equipment; to work with and instruct other crafts when required to complete repairs and installations

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Drill press, power saw, welding equipment, burning equipment, small hand tools, power tools, grinders, measuring devices, handles moving equipment, scaffolds, piping, etc. Gas and electric burning equipment, cleaning tools, shields, safety equipment, welding fixtures, etc.

MATERIALS: Steel, bronze, aluminum, asbestos, wood, lubricants, cloths, hardware, packing, repair parts, ferrous and nonferrous materials, welding rod, flux, gas, miscellaneous materials, etc.

Skills & Qualifications:

Must have industrial experience. Tools & Equipment: Personal protective equipment, written procedures, hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting equipment, drills, grinders, measuring devices, scaffolding, cleaning equipment, lifting equipment, laser alignment equipment, balancing equipment, etc.

Ideal candidates will have prior experience a power plant, gypsum plant, Foundry, steel mill, Mining, chemical plant, sawmill, Automotive Manufacturing)

WORKING PROCEDURE:

  1. Inspects equipment for defects, misalignment, wear, etc.

  2. Installs bearing, pins, bushings, gears, parts, etc.

  3. Lubricates equipment for installation and repair.

  4. Dismantles, cleans, replaces, repairs equipment and piping.

  5. Makes sketches for own use.

  6. Handles rigging equipment and erects scaffolds.

  7. Operates machine tools.

  8. Operates power tools and equipment.

  9. Works in shop or field.

  10. Advises when shut down of equipment is necessary.

  11. Makes temporary and permanent repairs.

  12. Adjusts equipment for proper operation.

  13. Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, shafts, etc.

  14. Receives instructions, prints and jobs orders.

  15. Interprets drawings and sketches.

  16. Selects materials and equipment for job.

  17. Lays out work, makes sketches and determines stock sizes to be used.

  18. Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.

  19. Performs gas and electric welding in all positions.

  20. Makes all types and sizes of welds such as V lap, butt, etc.

  21. Builds up worn or defective surfaces.

  22. Uses burning equipment to dismantle equipment.

  23. Cuts material to size by burning.

  24. Performs brazing.

  25. Exercises all safety precautions.

  26. Makes provisions for handling materials and equipment to and from job site.
