    HUMAN RESOURCES RECRUITER

    At Helena Public schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a HR Specialist, you contribute to this mission by ensuring that HPS has effective strategies to recruit and retain a qualified workforce. The HR Office is a team of five serving approximately 1,000 employees across our 18 campuses in Helena. Some of what you will do:

  • Build community partnerships and engage in outreach activities for talent pipelines.

  • Consult with hiring managers to develop a full-cycle recruitment plan for vacancies to include advertising strategy, timeline, screening process, behavioral based interview questions and defensible selection criteria.

  • Utilize applicant tracking system for candidate assessment and scheduling of interviews.

  • Review and create job descriptions in compliance with applicable state and federal laws; audit and make determinations on overtime exemption.

  • Consult with management on salary range and placement, applying equal pay considerations.

  • Utilize HRIS to administer contracts timely and accurately in accordance with applicable rules, policies and negotiated agreement(s).

  • Conduct exit interviews; consults with management on areas of workforce turnover.

  • Partner with management to identify and design change management initiatives and how human resource strategies can support business outcomes.

    Who we are looking for: To become part of this dedicated team, your education and experience equal to a Bachelor’s degree with focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field AND one year of professional human resource experience with a talent acquisition focus. Professional competencies include:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to create trusting and productive working relationships with diverse audiences.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Maintain the highest standards of customer service. Demonstrate patience in dealing with customers and the ability to successfully resolve or defuse conflict situations in a positive way.

  • Demonstrate ability to effectively manage and respond to frequent and rapid changes in workload and priorities.

  • Strong attention to detail to produce quality and error free work products.

  • Work effectively with a computer and software programs to perform the duties of the position, specifically MS Office products and an applicant tracking system.

  • Mathematical skills and reasoning ability to calculate figures, analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Perform duties with confidentiality and awareness of all district requirements and Board of Trustee policies.

    The ideal candidate will possess:

  • HR Certification (i.e., SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP)

  • Experience as a HR professional in a union environment, interpreting negotiated agreements

  • Experience as an HR professional in public sector, ideally in a school district

  • Experience utilizing Frontline Education
