Controller

SUMMARY

The Hotel Controller supports the Director of Finance in identifying opportunities to increase revenue and maximize profitability while managing the financials for all Hotel entities. Will work closely with the Director of Finance to provide overall business analysis and maintain financial controls, the Hotel Controller will evaluate all Hotel entities' overall financial performance.

This person will closely partner with the Accounting and Operations Teams to assist with gathering data to track financial performance, statistical trends as well as productivity metrics. This includes supporting the daily and monthly management reporting, analysis and strategic business review. This position will perform business modeling of the club including: membership growth, reserve contribution forecasting, and projected dues increases.

Primary responsibilities also include financial reporting; provide strong technical expertise and direction to support the development of the annual business plan as well as monthly forecasting, audit and control, asset & liability reconciliation, working capital and cash control.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with production of accurate and timely management reporting and financial statements.

  • Reconciles balance sheet and ensures account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs.

  • Oversees internal, external and regulatory audit processes and ensures compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Works closely with the accounting team and assist whenever possible to gather required data.

  • Review and provide analysis of monthly financial statements for all business units to ensure strong financial performance.

  • Assist with consolidating statistical data to track trends.

  • Works with Operations managers to provide monthly statistical analysis in expenses along with cost variances attributed to differences between budgets vs. actual.

  • Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collecting operational data.

  • Assists with the preparation of the monthly review reports with senior management.

  • Provides summarized financial data for member and committee meetings

  • Actively participates in providing an appropriate level of financial information in periodic member communications.

  • Actively participates in developing the annual business plans and operating budgets, capital plan and budgets and the 5-year plan.

  • Participates in amenity analysis

  • Assists with reporting on capital projects throughout the year, to ensure adherence to the annual capital budget.

  • Creates, monitors, and updates multiyear model to project expenses, reserve contributions, membership growth, and required dues contributions for each club

  • Conduct analysis on key budget assumptions.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as controller, preferably in a complex resort/club environment

  • Must possess initiative and drive; have broad relevant financial knowledge with strong management and leadership skills

  • Highly ethical

  • Extremely versatile leader

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.

  • Excellent analytical ability, knowledge in research methods and basic statistics to analyze data and formulate conclusions and action steps from results.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the Resort on a timely basis. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

The pay scale* for this position is $125,000-$155,000 annual salary.

*The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
