Reference #: 4410640 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is currently looking for an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager to join their team. Your role will involve assisting the County Maintenance Manager and overseeing maintenance operations in a designated area of the Pike County Maintenance Organization. DESCRIPTION OF WORK Your responsibilities will involve developing programs, estimates, and plans for various maintenance operations such as surface treatment, surface patching, aggregate stockpiling, snow removal, signage, bridge maintenance, and construction. Your main task will be to assess the condition of highways in a specific region of the county maintenance organization and determine the necessary maintenance tasks. This will include negotiating for available workforce and equipment, as well as identifying critical needs for the area. You will receive supervision from the County Manager, but you will also have a significant level of flexibility in planning and executing work programs. The success of your work will be evaluated based on the achievement of objectives set for the highway maintenance program.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1; or Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
