Bechtel India office is seeking a Senior Estimator (Instrumentation) at Gurgaon NCR office. This position will prepare,review and presents Instrumentation discipline estimates for specific project/proposal activities.

Position Summary:

  • The following duties are performed with respect to the process of establishing and maintaining technical capabilities for personnel, cost databases and tools:

  • Researches, develops, and maintains costs, quantities, ratios, and metrics of the historical cost databases pertaining to specific section. Understands the data and various sources of data.

  • Inputs cost data into the historical cost databases. Files completed estimates with all relevant back-up documentation yielding an easy-to-follow trail.

  • Generates and retrieves reports in the appropriate software application, understands and summarizes the data in the required presentation for management reviews.

  • Researches and collects data on commercial terms and conditions from identified sources.

  • Prepares cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons.

  • Analyzes cost/price data from suppliers/subcontractors and direct work with the ability to generate comparative data (historical costs and other metrics) as part of the cost/price analysis.

  • Participates in and contributes to Value Engineering studies.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Prepares and reviews capital cost estimates in specialized control system & instrumentation discipline areas using current techniques and market pricing.

  • Reviews methodology for quantity takeoffs for multidiscipline sections and customizes forms etc.

  • Produces capital cost costs estimate from multiple disciplines. Provides detail pricing for labor rates.

  • Develops unit installation rates for discipline specific items.

  • Prepares basis and assumption documentation inclusions,and exclusions.

  • Quantifies and spreads escalation based on project schedule and estimated costs.

  • Supports risk analysis assessment by identifying areas of risk.

  • Supports contingency efforts as directed.

  • Assists in developing job hour and pricing data for a specific discipline, including estimating parameters, factors, indices,etc.

  • Performs data analysis, identifies problems, and makes recommendations.

  • Prepares reports and estimate summaries for estimate reviews, as directed by supervisor. Participates in estimate reviews and presentations.

  • Works with other disciplines and functions to collect all necessary data on scope and quantities to prepare an accurate estimate in specialty discipline areas.

  • Participates in establishing pricing structures to be applied to quantities for estimates. Ensures that estimate is in line with market trends and pricing.

  • Manages variations and changes to base estimate and ensures that implications of changes are evaluated.

Job Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated intermediate understanding of Estimating core processes requiring minimal direction and supervision.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in EPC estimating practices, processes, and procedures, in addition to the estimate types, classifications, and components. Experience with Lump Sum Design Build estimates.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, perform, and present cost estimating products with a minimum of supervision.

  • Knowledge of market pricing and pricing sources in the area of specialization.

  • Skilled in the preparation of control system & instrumentation discipline estimates.

  • Broad knowledge and experience in construction estimating practices and methods.

  • Practical experience in performing statistical analysis, and cost and price analysis. Skill in understanding technical discipline processes.

  • Familiar with commercial terms and conditions

  • Understanding of cost index and escalation projections sources.

  • Knowledge of global market pricing for commodities and construction practices.

  • Excellent applied analytical and quantitative skills. Effective in utilizing metrics to provide reasonableness checks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of industry experience with 7+ years in control system & instrumentation cost estimates.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft software applications currently being used by Bechtel (Word, Excel, Access. PowerPoint).

  • Proficiency in estimating applications used for discipline estimates.

  • Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability to present cost information to peers, management, and customers.

  • Knowledge and experience with EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures including estimate classifications levels. Experience in parametric estimating techniques.
