As an Infrastructure Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to maintain a robust, efficient, effective, 24x7 service operation for the xpaas platforms. We will wear many hats, work fast and smart, and adapt and iterate quickly. You will work closely with your US and India leaders and peers to deliver a "Follow the Sun" capability that is best in class in Quality and Capability at a cost-effective price point.

Scope of Impact/Influence

  • Responsible for the infrastructure platform and supporting technology

  • Leads the design, build, enhancement, and integration of infrastructure with American Express Technologies

  • Plays an integral role in building and enhancing infrastructure in terms of robustness, scalability, availability, and efficiency accountable for completing assigned tasks and delivery of quality work

Education & Technology core competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Overall 6 years of industry experience with 4-5 Years of relevant experience

  • 2 years of Unix/Linux system administration experience extensively

  • At least 3 years' experience in supporting and maintaining the production-grade environment in two or more like Redis (Enterprise), Kafka and Elasticsearch etc.

  • Server Installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations on Red Hat Linux 6 and 7 in virtual machines.

  • Monitors the performance and health of the Linux servers and troubleshoot system failures.

  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Shell Scripts,Python,Java)

  • Extensive experience in Linux performance monitoring by using system tools, security setup, troubleshooting and performance tuning as necessary to ensure optimum performance, patching of Linux servers on regular schedule

  • Eager to learn new technologies in short time span.

  • Experience in change management, Incident management, RFC , Problem management & RCA

  • Experience in automation to increase efficiency.

Other skills

  • Proven diagnostic, troubleshooting, and service restoration skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and English communication skills with difficult customers in outage situations.

  • Metrics management

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
