DESCRIPTION OF WORK An Unemployment Compensation Specialist 1 is primarily responsible for receiving inquiries from employers, third-party administrators, representatives, legal and legislative authorities, and other external customers via telephone, chat, electronic, and paper correspondence concerning a wide range of Unemployment Compensation (UC) related topics. This position investigates, analyzes, and researches the circumstances surrounding each inquiry to determine the underlying issues, then evaluates, interprets, and applies the Pennsylvania UC law, policies, and procedures to cultivate available options for resolution. You will also provide technical assistance, educate customers of their rights and responsibilities, and effectively explain options in a manner that supports a consistent interpretation and implementation of laws, regulations, and actions. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:Starting salary is non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Unemployment Compensation Claims Intake Interviewer or Unemployment Compensation Tax Technician (commonwealth titles); or One year of technical work experience in an unemployment compensation program, or employment-services program; and a bachelor's degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
