Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Transportation Planning Specialist Trainee in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Transportation Planning Specialist Trainee, you will participate in daily activities related to the development of the state's Highway Safety Plan. You will also assist in the review of grant proposals; expenditures; progress reports; and assessment of highway safety grant projects.

Some of your tasks will encompass reviewing and analyzing proposed laws related to highway safety and offers information to support the department's position on these matters. You will also help with the daily operations of the state's highway safety program and contribute to the organization of meetings related to the program. Additionally, you will engage with personnel from state agencies, local government, and various stakeholders to discuss the highway safety programs outlined in the Highway Safety Plan.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
