DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a State Dog Warden, you will be responsible for enforcing the PA Dog Law (Act 18), Rabies law (Act 181), and any other applicable statues.  You will inspect dogs to determine if they are licensed as required by the State Dog Law; investigate complaints pertaining to dogs running at large; investigate dog bites and place quarantines on dogs to ensure public safety; conduct investigations to settle claims for damages to livestock or poultry caused by dogs and prepare reports for payment of damages; conduct investigations of suspected illegal transportation or killing of dogs as well as out of state dealers; research and investigate illegal/unlicensed kennels; and receive complaints regarding illegal kennels, violations of the State Dog Law, and inhumane kennel conditions, conduct an investigation into the complaint, and issue a report.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

This position will be home headquartered in Cambria County.  If applicant does not live in Cambria County, the assigned state vehicle must be parked in Cambria County.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience in dog law enforcement, animal control, animal welfare, or animal science work; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

You must possess an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation.
