The Department of Agriculture is seeking a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team enforcing Pennsylvania dog and rabies laws. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A State Dog Warden (Dog Law Enforcement Warden) is responsible for enforcing the State Dog Law (Act 18), Rabies Law (Act 181) and any other applicable statues as well as inspecting dogs to determine if they are licensed as required. Duties include investigating complaints pertaining to dogs running at large and investigating dog bites which can involve placing quarantines on dogs to ensure public safety, conducting investigations to settle claims for damages to livestock or poultry caused by dogs, and preparing reports for payment of damages. Other responsibilities include conducting investigations of and issuing reports on suspected illegal transportation or killing of dogs as well as out of state dealers as well as researching and investigating illegal and unlicensed kennels. This includes receiving complaints regarding illegal kennels, inhumane kennel conditions, and other violations of state dog laws. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position will be home headquartered in Butler County. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in dog law enforcement, animal control, animal welfare, or animal science work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

You must pass a background investigation.
